The main resort of Playa Blanca is a thriving and busy fishing village. Besides the great beaches, there are plenty of stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, doctors, banks, hairdressers and restaurants and bars galore. Most Sundays there is a local church service. You can also book excursions here, take water cabs to the beaches of Papagayo and the ferry to Fuerteventura.
Water sports abound, with a wide choice of diving, sailing, fishing and snorkeling. If you want to surf, the best place to do so is in Famara. Cabs are very common and cheap. There is regular bus service throughout Playa Blanca, plus bus service to other island towns.
